To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, along with Colorado's best known nature photographer, John Fielder, have joined forces to publish a commemorative poster to honor each of the wilderness areas in Colorado with a spectacular picture.
The poster is 24 by 36 inches in size and printed on high quality paper with a protective coating and is suitable for framing. (Click the image above to see a full page rendition of the poster.)
Many of us camping and hiking in Colorado Wilderness today can't imagine mountains without wilderness. And yet, it was only 50 years ago, in September of 1964, that President Lyndon Johnson signed the Wilderness Act that set aside 9.1 million acres of some of the most spectacular and beautiful places in the country for future generations to use and enjoy. Since then another 100 million acres have been added to the 758 wilderness areas set aside in the United States, including over 40 in Colorado.
Wilderness means different things to different people. But, whether you hunt, fish, hike, camp, take pictures, or backpack, wilderness enhances our experience of the out-of-doors in ways that can be difficult to explain. Most of us believe our lives would be poorer without wilderness and the opportunity to experience it first-hand. This is reason enough to feel inspired by this landmark achievement in our nation's history.
The poster will be available and shipping on February 1st, 2014. The poster will be priced at $19.95 plus $5 for shipping and handling. Please order your posters now, as we expect these to move quickly.
Because this is such a special occasion, we are also offering a special, limited edition 50th Anniversary Wilderness Act poster. This poster will be limited to only 100 copies. It will be distinguished by the number 50 in the poster being printed with gold metallic ink. John Fielder has agreed to sign each of these limited edition posters personally. This poster is certain to be a collector's item.
The limited edition poster is priced at $75. Please don't delay ordering if you want a copy of this special limited edition commemorative poster.
